Rumble Road Refuge

[[ Rumble Road Retreat – A Spacious, Private Haven Minutes from Sugarbush ]]

Nestled at the very end of a quiet road, Rumble Road Retreat offers a rare combination of mountain seclusion, expansive living space, and unbeatable proximity to one of Vermont’s premier ski destinations. Just a mile from the lifts at Sugarbush, this three-story, dog-friendly home is the perfect base for year-round adventures in the Mad River Valley. Whether you’re here to carve fresh powder, hike hidden trails, or simply relax in the crisp mountain air, you’ll find this property ready to welcome you in comfort and style.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the calm and privacy that sets this home apart. The property spans a generous piece of land, beautifully landscaped and surrounded by forested slopes. With no traffic beyond your driveway, you’ll enjoy a peaceful setting where the loudest sounds are likely to be birdsong in the morning or the soft whisper of wind through the pines.

[[ Space to Gather, Space to Breathe ]]

Inside, the home opens into a soaring main living area filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows. From here, you can see Sugarbush’s slopes rising in the distance, a constant reminder that world-class skiing and snowboarding are just minutes away. The heart of the home is the massive Vermont stone fireplace — a focal point where families and friends can gather after a day on the mountain, swapping stories over hot cocoa or local craft beer.

If you love to cook, you’ll fall in love with the well-appointed chef’s kitchen. It’s stocked with everything from high-end appliances to cookware and spices — praised by guests as “fully stocked for chefs all weekend.” The kitchen’s generous counter space, breakfast bar, and open flow into the dining area make it just as suited for holiday feasts as for casual après-ski snacks. And if the weather’s nice, you can take your meals outside to the large furnished deck, where multiple seating areas and a big dining table let you savor the mountain views with every bite.

[[ Room for Everyone ]]

With four main bedrooms plus a fun, kid-friendly basement bunk room, this home easily accommodates larger groups without sacrificing privacy. Each bedroom offers its own style of comfort, from the spacious primary suite to cozy guest rooms with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Multiple bathrooms — including en suite arrangements — ensure there’s no morning bottleneck when everyone’s gearing up for the day.

Downstairs, a second living area with plush seating and a TV gives younger guests their own hangout zone. The wet bar with a mini-fridge makes it easy to keep drinks and snacks close at hand, so you can keep the fun going without running upstairs.

[[ Dog-Friendly and Outdoor-Ready ]]

Bringing your furry friends? The home’s fenced-in yard makes it easy to give them outdoor time while you relax on the porch. Small on-site trails provide quick walks, while the surrounding valley offers endless opportunities for leashed hikes and swims.

Beyond the deck and yard, you’ll find a fire pit for evening marshmallow roasts, wide lawns for games, and — in winter — plenty of room to make snowmen or start an impromptu snowball fight. The property’s position means you can enjoy these outdoor spaces in complete privacy, without feeling like you’re on display.

[[ Perfect Sugarbush Proximity ]]

One of the home’s biggest draws is how close it is to Sugarbush Resort — you can be from your breakfast table to the lift line in just a few minutes. This convenience is invaluable during ski season, whether you’re an early riser chasing first tracks or a family juggling different schedules.

When the snow melts, Sugarbush transforms into a hub for mountain biking, hiking, and golfing, meaning the location pays off in every season. Within 10 miles, you’ll also find Warren Falls for a refreshing summer swim, the historic Mad River Glen Ski Area (a classic New England gem), and the scenic Granville Gulf Reservation State Forest.
